In this powerful workshop to deepen our understanding of the power of songs to manifest change, Albany based singer/songwriter Taina Asili will share information she has gathered from her 20 year history writing songs that seek to reclaim power, inspire, break barriers and unite. The workshop begins by looking at examples of social change songs and songwriters. She will then guide participants in a hands-on songwriting exercise, first turning our ideas into lyrics, and later, turning our words into songs. Taina Asili’s band, la Banda Rebelde, will be set up as the “house band” for participants to experiment with their creations. Join us in this interactive radical music jam to reinvent our world!

This workshop is open to people of all artistic levels from beginner poets to experienced mcees and singers. Best for ages 16 and up (but if you have a passionate younger person who is interested, please let me know)For more information email info@tainaasili.comSponsored by:
