MLK Day Weekend Interfaith Peace Walk
Taína Asili will be walking and offering song and prayer to the MLK Day Weekend Interfaith Peace Walk in Albany on Jan. 17th. We gather in the new year for an interfaith peace walk as a collective prayer for peace, protection, and justice. We pray for the protection of our immigrant communities being targeted and detained by ICE, to end all forms of racist violence in our community, and to end mass violence worldwide, from US school shootings to genocides in Palestine, Sudan and the Congo. We walk in nonviolent walking traditions practiced across many faith communities, including the Civil Rights era, guided by the moral courage of leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Colia Liddell Clark, Alice P. Green and many more.
Start: 10AM at Central Ave. and Austain Ave., Albany
End: MLK Jr. Memorial at Morton Ave & Dr MLK Jr Blvd, Albany
