Albany Library Series: Who I Am film & convo

Albany Public Library will be hosting artist in resident Taína Asili in a virtual film screening of Who I AM (10 min.), a documentary short about Puerto Rican performing artist Paola Gonzalez, and her journey to find liberation and joy as a trans woman in the professional wrestling arenas of upstate NY. Community discussion with Taína Asili and Paola Gonzalez to follow. Who I Am is part of a series of documentary shorts by Taína Asili about women of color and resilience. The film has received official selections at The International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival, The Sardinia Queer Film Expo, and Pride Arts Chicago.
Participants are also invited (but not required) to read Janet Mock’s book Redefining Realness. Copies of this book can be requested for curbside pickup through the library’s catalog here and as an online audiobook here.
