Albany Library Series: Resiliencia

Zoom (see registration link)

In this workshop we will watch Resiliencia (30 min.), a documentary by Taína Asili where she travels across Puerto Rico to have intimate conversations with four women artists and activists about their experiences during and after hurricanes Irma and Maria. The film documents the natural and unnatural devastation to the island and its people, while lifting up the resilience, creativity, and strength of the Puerto Rican nation and the human spirit. The film will be followed with a discussion about Puerto Rico, colonialism, disaster capitalism, and Puerto Rican grassroots movements for justice today. Participants are invited (but not required) to read the book The Battle For Paradise: Puerto Rico Takes On The Disaster Capitalists by Naomi Klein.
