Intl. Working Women’s Day
The Committee to Honor Puerto Rican Women on International Working Women’s Day will host their annual event Celebrating the Puerto Rican Woman: Today, Tomorrow and Always, at P.S. 109 Gallery, 215 East 99th Street, March 5th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Taina Asili will be singing in honor of Esperanza Martell, who is being honored at this event. The three honorees will receive the “Adelfa Vera Award” recognizing the late Dona Vera’s commitment to awaken the Puerto Rican people to a future of freedom and social justice. The event will also have performances by Bomba and Plena Intergenerational group, BombaYo; Spoken Word artists and actors, Circa 95, and Flaco Navajo, actor, Spoken Word artist.
In addition to this artistic line-up, there will be vendors selling jewelry, wellness products, t-shirts and ceramics. A short video will honor the contributions of the honorees. A $10 donation is requested.
