Social Justice Portal Project Performance

Taína Asili, 2021-22 Artist in Residence for the Social Justice Portal Project, will be offering FREE performances on Aug. 28th and 29th! The Justice Music Suite is a three-part series of music and film interventions exploring into the Portal Project themes, abolition, climate justice and economic democracy. Attendees will be the first to view the entire suite in a multimedia performance and have a chance to share their visions for the future of our communities.

There are two options to attend:
Sunday, August 28th at 4:00pm at Haymarket House, 800 W Buena Ave, Chicago.
Monday August 29th at 12:00pm at the Chicago Justice Gallery, 1344 S Halsted St, Chicago

Please note, seating is limited and attendance requires registration.

Covid and health related precautions: Due to the increase in health concerns, the venue requires attendees to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and masks must be worn indoors.

Hosted by the Social Justice Initiative at the University of Illinois at Chicago, The Social Justice Portal Project, is a collaborative think tank that brings together scholars, artists and activists to address the urgent questions of racial and social justice. Taína Asili released a new song and documentary entitled Abolition as part of her residency, the first in a three-part series of music and film interventions based on the Portal Project themes of abolition, climate justice, and economic democracy. These three new songs will be featured as a part of her performance.
