Film Festival Awards!
I am overjoyed to share some incredible news from my creative journey. I have recently been honored with my first two awards in filmmaking, marking a beautiful new chapter in my life as an artist.
My documentary short Resiliencia, which uplifts the voices of women in Puerto Rico navigating life and resistance in the wake of Hurricane Maria, was awarded “Best Documentary” at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival in New York City. This film holds a special place in my heart, rooted in my own ancestral connection to Puerto Rico and my deep commitment to sharing stories of resilience.
In addition, my documentary short Plant the Seed, which shares the inspiring story of Leah Penniman, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm, received “Best Documentary Short” and “Audience Best Documentary Short” at the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival in Atlanta.
Both films were beautifully shot and co-edited by the talented filmmaker Gaetano Vaccaro, whose artistry helped bring these powerful stories to life on screen.
You can watch Plant the Seed now on my YouTube page, along with a 10-minute clip from Resiliencia. Visit my calendar for upcoming screenings of the full-length Resiliencia, or contact me to book a screening at your venue.
These recognitions are more than awards, they are a celebration of the voices, struggles, and victories of the communities whose stories I am honored to amplify through my art. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I’m excited to keep creating, collaborating, and sharing more stories that light the path toward liberation.
